Since 2008, every year 2nd April is observed as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD). Organisations working with individuals with autism around the world, celebrate this day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.
Like last year, this year too , The Shri Ram School participated in the movement by dressing up in ‘Blue’. Many students from the junior school, volunteered to help with the campaign and spread the awareness by pinning a blue ribbon on all parents and visitors who came to the school for their class orientations on 1st and 6th April 2015. The brilliance of the ribbon is a sign of hope; hope that through greater awareness of autism, and through early intervention as well as appropriate intensive treatment, people with autism can live productive and fulfilled lives.
Jay Gandhi, an IB student at the Moulsari campus, took the initiative along with his friends to publish articles on Autism in the news letter called Shri DNA . A copy of the same was given to every staff member and parent on the occasion of WAAD.
The school also used this event as a platform to raise funds for Autism Society of India (ASI) by selling a table calendar which had pictures and quotes by a young adult who is on the autism spectrum.
